The Holy Prophet Muhammed Sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam the link to Allah Allah says in the quraan how compassionate and merciful is the Holy Prophet Muhammed Salallaahu Alaihi wassallam towards the believers and how heavy it is on him that we should fall into trouble , Allah also says that he (The Holy Prophet Salallaahu Alaihi wassal) is desirous of our welfare and hence he shows his mercy and compassion to the believers by interceding on thier behalf and guiding them so that they don't fall into trouble , Just as the creator Allah Subhaana taala is merciful and compassionate he as made his beloved and best creation, the Holy Prophet Muhammed Sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam also in the same manner Surely, a Messenger has come to you from among yourselves; grievously heavy is it on him that you should fall into trouble, ardently desirous is he of your welfare: compassionate and merciful towards the believers. Qur'an (al-Tawbah) 9:128. Notice in the above verse Allah mentions about the merciful and compassionate nature about the Holy Prophet Muhammed Sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam In the above verse Allah directs all the believers to the Holy Prophet Muhammed SallalaahuAlaihi wasallam who is not just a messenger bringing us a message but is a link to Allah , and the fountain of Spiritual guidance which all believers must enjoin , foremost through his love ,respect and through his nearness or the channels which lead to his nearness, and it is without doubt that his nearness will lead to strength of Imaan and Allah's nearness . Sahih Bukhari Volume 1, Book 2, Number 13: Sahih Bukhari Volume 1, Book 2, Number 14: Sahih Bukhari Volume 1, Book 2, Number 15: Narrated Anas: The Prophet said, "Whoever possesses the following three qualities will have the sweetness (delight) of faith: 1. The one to whom Allah and His Apostle becomes dearer than anything else. 2. Who loves a person and he loves him only for Allah's sake. 3. Who hates to revert to Atheism (disbelief) as he hates to be thrown into the fire."This link to the Holy Prophet is the foundation of Imaan and thats why in every Namaz a believer sends salaam to the Holy Prophet Muhammed Sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam in Atahiyaat first "Assalaamu Alaika Ayuhannabi wa rahamatulaahi wa barakatuhu"" which means "O prophet Salaams on you " (may peace be upon him) and then "Assalaamu Alaina waala ibadillah his saliheen " and then we send salaam to ourself and the those of the Righly guided of his Ummah , namely the Sahaba , The Ahle bayt and the Awliya . These salaams on the beloved servants of Allah in every Namaz further adds to the importance of establishing a spiritual connection with the exalted servants of Allah , and also shows that The fountain of the Spiritual Guidance is the Holy Prophet Muhammed Sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam and the others are the tributaries of this fountain Enjoining these tributaries in enjoining the fountain Then we send darood to the Holy Prophet and the Progeny of the Holy Prophet in every namaaz The importance of these links cannot be less emphasized Say (O' Prophet): I do not ask of you any reward for it but love for my near relatives The Awliya Allah are the Tributaries of this fountain of Spiritual guidance The Awliya allah are the channels ordained by Allah and his beloved Prophet (may peace be upon him) whose Spiritual guidance leads to Allah and this guidance stems itself from the Spiritual guidance of the Holy Prophet Muhammed sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam as mentioned in the following hadees whoso believed me and endorsed me, I shall pass on to him the legacy of 'Ali' s(radiallahu taala anhu ) spiritual leadership The legacy of Hazrat Ali radiallahu taala anhu's Spiritual leadrship is nothing but the Spiritual leadership of The Awliya , All the Sufi chains descend from him. he is the fountainhead of the Awliya .his Spiritual leadership derives itself from the Spiritual leadership of the Holy Prophet Muhammed Sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam and he is a part of the Ahle Bayt to which every believer must hold on . It is narrated by 'Ammar bin Yasir that the Messenger of Allah said: whoso believed me and endorsed me, I shall pass on to him the legacy of 'Ali' s spiritual leadership. Anyone who regarded him(Syedina Ali Radiallahu taala anhu ) as his guardian, he regarded me as his guardian, and anyone who regarded me as his guardian, he regarded Allah as his Guardian, and anyone who loved him ('Ali radiallahu taala anhu) , he loved me and one who loved me loved Allah , and one who bore malice towards him ('Ali radiallahu taala anhu ) bore malice towards me and one who bore malice towards me bore malice towards Allah Haythamī has related this tradition from Tabarānī in Majma'-uzzawā'id (9:108, 109) and has called its narrators credible (thiqah); and Hindī copied it in Kanz-ul-'ummāl (11:611 # 32958). Ibn 'Asākir narrated it in Tārīkh Dimashq al-kabīr (45:181,182). The Holy Prophet Muhammed Sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam delcared one who has me as his maula has Ali(radiallahu taala anhu) as his maula , this phrase is part of more than 100 hadiths, 50 of which are present in the book The Ghadeer Declaration by Tahir ul Qadri One of the famous narrations is here The Great Hadees Of Ghadeer Ul Khulm "It is narrated by Hudhayf ah bin Usayd al-Ghifār ī… He said: O people! I have been told by a highly reliable source that Allāh gave every prophet half the life span of his predecessor and I appr ehend I shall ( soon) r eceive the call and I shall accept it. I shall be asked (about my responsibilities) and you will (also) be asked (about me). What do you say (about this) ? They said: we bear witness that you struggled hard to groom us in the faith and taught us virt uous things. May Allāh bless you with a noble rewar d! He said: Don't you bear witness that there is no god but Allāh and Muhammad is Allāh' s servant and His Messenger ; Paradise and Hell are a reality and life after death is a reality and there is no doubt about the Day of Judgement and Allāh will raise us again from the graves? All of them replied: why not! We bear witness to all this. He said: O Allāh! Be you a witness. He said: O people! Surely Allāh is my master and I am the master of all believers and I am near er than their lives. One who has me as his master has 'Alī as his master . O Allāh! Be his friend who befriends him and be his enemy who is his ('Alī's) enemy. O people! I am to leave before you and you will meet me at the Fountain (of kawthar). This fountain is even wider than the distance between Basra and San'ā'. It has silver bowls as big as the stars. When you come to me, I will ask you about two highly important things. It is to be seen how you treat them in my absence. The f ir st important thing is Allāh' s Book which is related in one aspect to Allāh and, in another aspect, to His servants. If you hold on to it firmly, you will neither go astray nor deviate (from tr uth); and (the second important thing) is my progeny, that is, the members of my family. Hold on to them. The highest authority has told me that surely these two will never deviate from the truth and they will meet me at the Fountain. Tabarānī related it in al-Mu'jam-ul-kabīr (3:67, 180, 181 # 2683, 3052; 5:166, 167 # 4971); Haythamī, Majma'-uz-zawā'id (9:164, 165); Ibn 'Asākir, Tārīkh Dimashq al-kabīr (45:166, 167); Ibn Kathīr, al-Bidāyah wan-nihāyah (5:463); and Hindī in Kanz-ul-'ummal (1:188, 189 # 957, 958). Ibn 'Asākir related it from Sa'd also in Tārīkh Dimashq alkabīr (45:169). This hadees says about the legacy of Spiritual leadership which stems from the Holy Prophet and flows through his progeny and then to the Awliya. (NOTE: This hadees is about Spiritual leadership and Wilayat and it does not invaldate the Khilafat of Syedina Abu bakr Siddique radiallahu taala anhu and Syedina Hazrat Umar radiallahi taala anhu and Syedina Hazrat Usmaan radiallahu taala anhu .) Now coming back to Spiritual leaders as Spiritual guides , The importance of this guidance is mentioned in the Holy Quraan In the following verse Allah says that when he wants to bring you nearer he will give you a means of guidance . He whom Allah guides is on the right path but whom He makes stray you will find them friendless with no help or guide. Qur'an (al-Kahf) 18:17. Allah also asks the believers to seek this means . O believers! Fear Allah and seek means (of approach to) His (presence and to His nearness and accessibility) and strive in His way so that you may prosper. Qur'ān ( al-Mā'idah) 5:35. The same is pointed out by Islamic scholars People who are in search of the true conduct mean by wasīlah a kind of guide. Search for the guide should necessarily precede the hard struggle that is required for the attainment of true success, and Allah has prescribed this method for the seekers of the true path. Therefore, without the direction of the guide, its acquisition is almost impossible Ismā'īl Dihlawī, Sirāt mustaqīm (p.58). It is almost impossible to receive (divine) guidance without the direction (provided) by the guide. Shāh Walī Allah Muhaddith Dihlawī, al-Qawl-ul-jamīl (p.34). Those who accuse the believers of commiting Shirk by enjoininig the Awliya should look at the following verse which diffrentiates between the Polythiests who worshiped the Exalted servants of Allah and the Exalted servants of Allah themselves who gained nearness to Allah through other servants of Allah who were nearer to Allah Those, whom they worship (that is, the angels, jinn, 'Īsā (Alaihis salaam) and 'Uzayr (Alaihis salaam) etc.,- they make their portraits and statues and worship them), they (themselves) seek nearness to their Lord, through those who among them are the nearest (to Allah's presence), and they (themselves) hope for His mercy, and (themselves) fear His punishment. (Now you tell how can they deserve to be worshipped, they themselves are bowing before the truthful Lord.) Surely, the punishment of your Lord is a thing to be feared. 1. Qur'ān (al-Isrā') 17:57. Focus on the verse "they (themselves) seek nearness to their Lord, through those who among them are the nearest (to Allah's presence)," Undoubtedly The Holy Prophet Muhammed Sallalaahu Alahi wassallam is the nearest to Allah , thus he is the Fountain of Spiritual guidance The Rightly Guided Khalifas All the Khailfas namely Syedina Abu bakr Siddique radiallahu taala anhu, Syedina Hazrat Umar radiallahu taala anhu and Syedina Hazrat Usmaan radiallahu taala anhu and Syedina Hazrat Ali radiallahu taala anhu recieved guidance directly from the Holy Prophet Muhammed Sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam even after his demise , These Khalifas complete annihilation of thier will into the will of the Holy Prophet , Thier unmatched love to the Holy Prophet more than anything else including thier lives and total acceptance of this command by both body and heart lead to thier nearness to Allah . (Fani E Rasool , and then Fani E Allah ) Whosoever obeys the Messenger, has obeyed Allah indeed. 1. Qur'an (Al Imran) 3:31. The Great Spiritual power of Hazrat Umar radiallahu taala anhu Well-grounded and groomed in the purifying and illumining, holy and divine companionship of the Spiritual Sovereign of the Universe(The Holy Prophet), the close associates and comrades of our dearest Prophet (Sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam) were the Spiritual Super Conducting Magnets refined through process of 'Tazkia'. The Holy Messenger (Sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam ) himself spiritually charged them. Without physical means, they could spiritually scan and monitor even the combats against the unbelievers and issue commands to their war commanders engaged in far-off battlefields. In a war against the adversaries of Islam, the commander of the Muslim army Saria bin Jabal(Rahamatulla Alai) had deployed his troops against the adversaries. In the event of war, the enemy changed its strategy and encircled the Muslim troops, catching them unaware. The Second Caliph of the Muslims, Hadrat Umar Farooq (radiallahu taala anhu) was, at that moment, delivering his Juma'a address in Madînah. Owing to his spiritual concentration, he scanned the battlefield, saw the positions of both the warring armies and addressed the commander of his forces: O Saria, take cover of the hill.' 1. (i) Muhammad Khatib Tabrizi, Mishkat-ul-masabih, b. of fada'il (virtues and merits) Ch.8 (3:318 # 5954); (ii) Abu Nu'aym, Dalail–un-nubuwwah (p. 507); (iii) 'Ali al-Hindi Kanz-ul-'ummal (12:571,572,573#35788-91). After issuing this command, he continued his address. He was neither equipped with any radar nor had he any direct TV Channel to monitor such a distant activity. Delivering his address in 'Nabvi Mosque' in Madînah, he issued instructions to his army commander engaged in the strategy of war. This was his Spiritual Magnetic Force and his inner vision that watched everything. The commander Hadrat Saria-bin-Jabal received the message of the Caliph, implemented his orders, took shelter of the hill as advised and in consequence thereof won the war. The enemy was defeated and the Muslim forces gained victory. There is no doubt that the other Calips had such spiritual power and they gained it through the nearness to the Holy Prophet Muhammed Sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam which resulted in nearness to Allah [Partially Extracted from Tahir ul qadri's Book on Spiritualism ] Allah hafiz Tanveer Pasha |
