Re: [Yaadein_Meri] The First Of Allah's Creation.

Following is the discussion of this Hadees by Islamic scholars printed in Shaykh Ul Islaam's book , Also those regarded it as authentic.

This tradition is declared sahih (sound) by Imam Hakim, though he acknowledges 'Abd-ur-Rahman bin Zayd bin Aslam, one of its sub-narrators, as weak. However, when he mentions it he says,

Its chain is sound, and it is the first hadith of 'Abd-ur-Rahman bin Zayd bin Aslam which I mention in this book." Imam Bulqini also declares this tradition sound in his Fatawa.

Subki confirms Hakim's authentication in Shifa'-us-siqam fi ziyarat khayr-1.  although Ibn Taymiyyah's rejection and criticism was known to him and he rejects it.

Similarly a large number of hadith-experts have related in their books the event of Adam's prayer and his reliance on the Holy Prophet Salalaahu Alaihi wasallam  as a form of intermediation. It may be noted that there is no inconsistency or contradiction between the words cited earlier and the words contained in these books because these words are the incremental part of the same prayer. This proves the fact that prayer through the mediation of the Holy Prophet  Salalaahu Alaihi wasallam is, first of all, the practice of Adam  Salalaahu Alaihi wasallam , and this is undeniably the holiest means for the acceptance of prayer.

Qastallani has established in his al-Mawahib-ulladuniyyah (1:81-2; 4:594) with the help of various traditions the principle of prayer through the mediation of the Holy Prophet Salalaahu Alaihi wasallam

Imam Zurqani also confirms it in his Commentary (1:118-20; 12:220-1).

Hadith-expert, Ibn-ul-Jawzi cites this tradition in the first chapter of his book, al-Wafa bi-ahwal-il-Mustafa (1:33) and considers it sahih (sound).

In the introduction of the book he says, In this book I do not mix the sound hadith with the false. He also mentions the version of Maysarah on the same page whereby the holy Prophet  says, When Satan deceived Adam and Eve, and they repented and sought intercession from Allah with my name.

Ibn-ul-Jawzi also says in the chapter concerning the Prophet's superiority over the other prophets in the same book (1:359), Part of the exposition of his superiority to other prophets is (the fact) that Adam Alaihi salaam asked his Lord through the sanctity (hurmah) of Muhammad Salalaahu Alaihi wasallam that He relent towards him, as we have already mentioned."

Mawlana Ashraf 'Ali Thanwi has initiated the discussion in the second section
(fasl) of his Nashr-ut-tib(p.20) with a reference to these traditions. Even at the time of Adam's marriage with Eve, Adam was commanded to send blessings on the Holy
Prophet  Salalaahu Alaihi wasallam  and use them as a form of intermediation in his marriage contract.

This has been recorded in Salat-ulahzan by Ibn-ul-Jawzi. And Imam Ahmad as-Sawi says in Hashiyah on Tafsir-ul-Jalalayn (1:23): And that (divine) command was expressly given to introduce Adam  Salalaahu Alaihi wasallam  to the glory and distinction of Muhammad  Salalaahu Alaihi wasallam at the very beginning, that is, if he were not created, he would never have been blessed with a wife. So he is the real force for every form of intermediation, even for Adam's act of intermediation.

Mawlana Ashraf 'Ali Thanwi related this tradition in Nashr-ut-tib (p.21). The tradition of Adam's intermediation through the Holy Prophet Salalaahu Alaihi wasallam is also included by Qadi 'Iyad among the "sound and famous narrations" in ash-Shifa (1:227-8).

He says that Abu Muhammad al-Makki and Abu Layth as-Samarqandi mentioned it.

He also cites another very similar version through Ajurri1 (d.360), about whom Mulla 'Ali
Qari said, al-Halabi said: This seems to be the Imam and spiritual guide Abu Bakr Muhammad bin Husayn bin 'Abdullah al-Baghdadi, the compiler of the books ash-Shari'ah fis-sunnah, al-Arba'un, and others."

Mulla 'Ali Qari stated this in his Commentary on ash-Shifa (1:375-6)
.

This is also confirmed by Ibn Taymiyyah: 'it is related by Shaykh Abu Bakr al-Ajurri, in his book ash-Shari'ah.' .

.Ibn Taymiyyah, Qā'idah jalīlah fit-tawassul wal-wasīlah (pp.84-5).

Imam Suyuti cites this hadith in his Qur'anic interpretation ad-Durr-ul-manthur (1:58)
and in al-Khasa'is-ul-kubra (1:6) and in ar-Riyad-ul-aniqah fi sharh asma' khayr al-khaliqah (pp.48-9), where he says that Bayhaqi considers it sound. In addition to these scholars of impeccable credibility, the narration of this tradition by experts in the field of compilation and transmission of tradition argues strongly in favour of the authenticity and validity of this tradition. As Bayhaqi said in the introduction to Dala'il-un-nubuwwah that he only included sound narrations in his book.

The contemporary Makkan hadith-scholar Muhammad bin 'Alawi al-Maliki quotes

Dhahabi's unrestrained endorsement of the traditions in Bayhaqi's Dala'il-unnubuwwah with his words,  You must take what is in it (Dala'il-un-nubuwwah), for it consists entirely of guidance and light.

Muhammad bin 'Alawī al-Mālikī, Mafāhīm yajib an tusahhah (p.127).
.

Zurqani also transmitted Dhahabi's statement about Bayhaqi's Dala'il-un-nubuwwah in his Commentary (1:120).

Similarly its inclusion by Ibn Taymiyyah in his Fatawa (2:150)  is also a clear proof of its strength and soundness, though he is generally regarded as a controversial scholar.
As he quotes this version and another through Maysarahand says,

These two are like the elucidation of the authentic hadiths (concerning the same topic).

About this statement Muhammad bin 'Alawi al-Maliki said,

This indicates that Ibn Taymiyyah found the narration credible enough to be considered a witness for other narrations, because mawdu' (forged) and batil (false) are not taken as witness by the people of hadith

In this holy tradition, when Adam uses the words as'aluka bi-haqqi Muhammad (I ask You through the mediation of Muhammad), and asks for the forgiveness of his error, Allah's mercy gushes out, and in this state of swinging upsurge, He conveys to him the glad tidings of his forgiveness by using the words qad ghafartu laka (I forgave you). Through this act, Adam  has driven this message home to his progeny that in case they have
committed a sin they should not be overburdened by a sense of guilt and sin and keep sulking in corners; on the contrary, they should pray to Allah through the mediation
of the Holy Prophet  in their prayer and Allah shall forgive them. Adam is not making this statement as an abstraction as it is based on his own experience. A prayer is instantly granted by Allah whenever the name of the Holy Prophet is invoked in it.

The Qur'an says about it:

(O beloved!) And if they had come to you, when they had wronged their souls, and
asked forgiveness of Allah, and the Messenger also had asked forgiveness for
them, they (on the basis of this means and intercession) would have surely found Allah the Granter of repentance, extremely Merciful.

None of these Ayaths say that he did not seek forgiveness through the Holy Prophet Muhammed Salalaahu Alaihi wasallam, they say he submitted to Allah for forgiveness

37       Then learnt Adam from his Lord words of inspiration and his Lord turned toward him; for He is Oft-Returning Most Merciful.

what was it that he learnt from Allah , what were the words of inspiration , This Ayath does not say completely , it could be that Allah inspired him to make the dua using the wasila of the Holy Prophet , this was something new , the wasila , this could be the inspiration,

maybe he knew to ask for forgiveness but he learnt the wasila, but one cant make exact veridicts to deny these hadiths from heavy wieght scholars

Iam not saying for sure , what this inspiration completely was , but you simply cant limit the meaning of these verses

Then you mention about Surah Aaraf

23. Both of them submitted: 'O our Lord! We have wronged our souls. And if You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we shall certainly be amongst the losers.'

24. (Allah) said: 'Go down (all of you and live in the earth); some of you are enemies of others. A residence and means of living (have been determined) for you in the earth for a fixed term (i.e., you are sent down with two basic rights of dwelling and subsistence in the earth; so, organize and stabilize the system of your life on that basis).'

In verse 23 Adam alaihis salaam and Hawa Alaihis salaam submitted to Allah for forgiveness , but they could also have asked the forgiveness through the wasila of the Holy Prophet Muhammed Salalaahu Alaihi wasallam , you cant make a point that they did'nt

the hadees is established by heavy wieght scholars , you cant make it baseless

BisMillah-ir-Rahmaan-Nir-Raheem

AsSalamo Alaikum wra

Dear brothers in Islam,

Here are some of the explanation of the Hadith quoted by Tanveer Pasha.

Adam (a.s) took Prophet Mohamed's wasila

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person,  no grave, no prophet,  no imam,  no dai,  nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Question: Is this true?

There is absolutely no truth to this fabrication and myth that the repentance of Prophet Adam (a.s.) was only accepted after he made the supplication using the 'waseela' of Prophet Mohamed (saws)!   This false notion of Prophet Adam (a.s.) using the 'waseela' of Prophet Mohammed (saws) is absolutely against the guidance and teachings of the Holy Quran,  where Allah Subhanah has clearly and exactly mentioned what Prophet Adam (a.s.) prayed in his supplication in seeking forgiveness from the Merciful Lord.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verses 36-37:

36       Then did Satan make them slip from the (garden) and get them out of the state (of felicity) in which they had been.  We said: "Get ye down all (ye people) with enmity between yourselves.  On earth will be your dwelling place and your means of livelihood for a time."

37       Then learnt Adam from his Lord words of inspiration and his Lord turned toward him; for He is Oft-Returning Most Merciful.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 7 Surah Aaraaf verses 22-23:

22       So by deceit he brought about their fall: when they tasted of the tree their shame became manifest to them and they began to sew together the leaves of the garden over their bodies.  And their Lord called unto them: "Did I not forbid you that tree and tell you that satan was an avowed enemy unto you?"

23       They said: "O our Lord!  We have wronged our own souls:  if Thou forgive us not,  and bestow not upon us Thy Mercy,  we shall certainly be lost."

Thus,  in light of the above clear Aayahs of the Glorious Quran,  it is absolutely clear that Prophet Adam (a.s.) learnt the exact words of the supplication from Allah Subhanah,  and the Merciful Lord accepted their repentance and forgave them.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah's Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan

Praise be to Allaah.

The hadeeth about Adam committing a sin and seeking to draw closer to Allaah by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is a fabricated hadeeth which is falsely attributed to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and to Adam (peace be upon him).

We have stated that in the answer to question no. 34715, where we quoted the scholars' comments on the falseness of this hadeeth. These scholars include Imam al-Dhahabi (may Allaah have mercy on him).

Al-Bayhaqi (may Allaah have mercy on him) did not narrate this hadeeth in his Sunan, rather he narrated it in Dalaa'il al-Nubuwwah (5/489), where he classed it as da'eef (weak). After quoting the hadeeth, he said: "It was narrated only by 'Abd al-Rahmaan ibn Zayd ibn Aslam, and he is da'eef."

What makes it most likely that the text is false is the fact that the du'aa' by which Allaah accepted Adam's repentance is what is mentioned in Soorat al-A'raaf, where Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

"They said: 'Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You forgive us not, and bestow not upon us Your Mercy, we shall certainly be of the losers'"

[al-A'raaf 7:23]

This is the supplication of Adam and Hawwa', in which they called upon Allaah alone, and sought to draw close to Him (tawassul) by His names and attributes, and by mentioning their situation. These are words which Adam received from his Lord, then he said them and Allaah accepted his repentance, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

"Then Adam received from his Lord Words. And his Lord pardoned him (accepted his repentance). Verily, He is the One Who forgives (accepts repentance), the Most Merciful"

[al-Baqarah 2:37]

34715: Falseness of the hadeeth about Adam praying by virtue of Muhammad (blessings and peace be upon them both)

I read this hadeeth and I would like to know whether it is saheeh or not.
"When Adam committed his sin, he said, 'O Lord, I ask You by virtue of Muhammad to forgive me.' Allaah said, 'O Adam, how do you know of Muhammad when I have not yet created him?' He said, 'O Lord, when You created me with Your own hand, and breathed into me the soul that You created, I raised my head and saw written on the pillars of the Throne, Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah Muhammad Rasool Allaah [There is no god but Allaah, Muhammadi s the messenger of Allaah]. Then I knew that You would not mention in conjunction with Your name any but the most beloved of Your creation to You.' Allaah said, 'You have spoken the truth, O Adam. He is indeed the most beloved of My creation to Me. Pray to me by virtue of Him, for I have forgiven you. Were it not for Muhammad, I would not have created you.'".

Praise be to Allaah.

This hadeeth is mawdoo' (fabricated). It was narrated by al-Haakim via 'Abd-Allaah ibn Muslim al-Fahri (who said), Ismaa'eel ibn Muslimah narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahmaan ibn Zayd ibn Aslam told us, from his father, from his grandfather, from 'Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allaah be pleased with him), that he said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, "When Adam committed his sin…" Then he quoted the hadeeth as the questioner quoted it.

Al-Haakim said: The isnaad of this hadeeth is saheeh.

This is what al-Haakim said! But a number of scholars rebuked him and denounced him for classing this hadeeth as saheeh. They ruled that this hadeeth is false and fabricated, and they pointed out that al-Haakim contradicted himself when commenting on this hadeeth.

There follow some of their comments:

Al-Dhahabi said, criticizing the words of al-Haakim quoted above:

Rather it is mawdoo' (fabricated), and 'Abd al-Rahmaan is not reliable, and I do not know who 'Abd-Allaah ibn Muslim al-Fahri is.

Al-Dhahabi also said in Meezaan al-I'tidaal: It is a false report.

Al-Haafiz Ibn Hajar agreed with him in Lisaan al-Meezaan.

Al-Bayhaqi said:

'Abd al-Rahmaan ibn Zayd ibn Aslam is the only one who narrated it with this isnaad, and he is da'eef (weak). Ibn Katheer agreed with him in al-Bidaayah wa'l-Nihayyah, 2/323.

Al-Albaani said in al-Silsilah al-Da'eefah, 25: (it is) mawdoo'.

Al-Haakim himself (may Allaah forgive him) accused 'Abd al-Rahmaan ibn Zayd of being a fabricator of hadeeth, so how could his hadeeth be saheeh?

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said in al-Qaa'idah al-Jaleelah fi'l-Tawassul wa'l-Waseelah (p. 69):

Al-Haakim's narration of this hadeeth is something for which he was denounced, and he himself said in his book al-Madkhil ila Ma'rifat al-Saheeh 'an al-Saqeem:

'Abd al-Rahmaan ibn Zayd ibn Aslam narrated fabricated ahaadeeth from his father, and it is obvious to any competent hadeeth scholar that he is the one to blame for fabricating ahaadeeth. I say: 'Abd al-Rahmaan ibn Zayd ibn Aslam is da'eef (weak) because he made a lot of mistakes.

. Al-Qurtubi said: Qatada said that the Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) said: 'I was the first of the Prophets to be created and the last one to be sent;' and this is the reason he was mentioned first in this verse before Nuh and others.

The Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) himself gave the above explanation by pronouncing the above hadith after reciting verse 33:7. Then he added: Thus the sequence began with me ahead of them

(Ibn Abi Hatim, Tafsir 10:3116, sub Q 33:7)

The whole world and creation of Adam was  created for the Holy Prophet Muhammed Salalaahu Alaihi wasallam, except he was not brought from Adam's progeny yet .

and even before he was created as a human being,  he was the most beloved of Allah , and the Kalima with his name along with the name of Allah was present on the throne of Arsh

Narrated by 'Umar bin al-Khattab(may allah be pleased with him) Allah's Messenger  said: When Adam committed the error, he submitted (to Allah): O Lord, I beg You to forgive me through the mediation of Muhammad(may peace be upon him). Then Allah said: O Adam! How did you recognize Muhammad(may peace be upon him) as I have not created him yet( as a human being )?

He replied: O Lord, when You created me with Your divine hand and breathed Your soul into me, I raised my head and saw 'lailaha illallahu Muhammad-ur-rasulullah (there is no god but Allah, Muhammad
(may peace be upon him) is Allah's Messenger)' inscribed on each pillar of the Throne.

I discovered that with Your name, the name of only such a person can be
associated who is Your most beloved of all the creatures. At this Allah said: O Adam, you have said it correctly. Of all the creatures I love him the most. Now when you offered your prayer through his mediation, I forgave you. And if Muhammad
(may peace be upon him) were not there, I would not have created even you.

The tradition was transmitted through many chains and was related by

 Bayhaqi in Dala'il-un-nubuwwah (5:489);
 Tabarani in al-Mu'jam-ul-awsat (7:259#6498) and al-Mu'jam-us-saghir (2:82-3)
Haythami  stated it in Majma'-uz-zawa'id (8:253); Ibn 'Asakir in Tahdhib tarikh
 Dimashq al-kabir generally known as Tarikh/Tahdhib Ibn'Asakir (2:359-60);
 Ibn Kathir, al-Bidayah wan-nihayah (1:131; 2:291-2);
 Ibn Hajar Haythami in al-Jawhar-ulmuazzam(p.61);.
