[Yaadein_Meri] SECULARISM VERSES ISLAM

ASSALAAM O ALAIKUM:

SECULARISM VERSES ISLAM:

A secular state is a concept of secularism, whereby a state or country purports to be officially neutral in matters of religion, supporting neither religion nor irreligion.

For the interested readers the extracts from Wikipedia Encyclopedia is given at the end of this write-up

A secular state does not indicate its relation with any religion but Pakistan is created on the basis of a free homeland for Muslims; so that Muslims can freely practice their religion. If this was not the main purpose then creating Pakistan after Great Sacrifices; becomes Cruel Joke.

Now let us see what Secularism stands for and why a Muslim can not fit in it & if S/he tries to fit in Secular system S/he loses Islamic Ideology.

SECULAR: Government by the people, for the people of the people. Public is Sovereign

ISLAM: Allah s.w.t is Sovereign & Caliphate/Shoorah is the way of governance. The Khalifa must be Allah fearing, pious, wise, knowing Islam (having knowledge of Islam) Just and free of nepotism etc. &  Majlis-e-Shoora must have persons of similar qualities & each one must be expert in at least one profession

The reader may be surprised at the above statement and therefore it needs clarification.

It is very simple & could be easily understood if only we compare between the two:

Islam is complete code of Life In Islam freedom is guaranteed but with conditions and Islam does not suppress any natural requirements or desires but it regulates them by putting certain conditions which are in fact; for safeguard of Muslims in particular and Humanity at large.

In Islam great stress given on serving old parents with care, afection, tenderness and love. In secularism the gift for parents is Old Age Homes. This is because in secular society male and female have to earn their bread and butter and no time could be spared for elders.

Islam gives lesson of control on Lust and Greed. In secular system there is a competition for gratifying Lusts Greed and Desires.

Islam says marry one to four wives depending upon your budget and personal strength. Islam has given rights to Husband/s and wives. In Islam there is no mention of parting away with half of properties in case of divorce. Husband has to give to the departing wife only that much which was contracted at the time of marriage (Mehr). Islam does not encourage divorce but if the wife or husband can not tolerate each other or either of them then only should divorce take place and before divorce there should be arbitration; which if fails then divorce is permissible.

Now see the Secular system: because there is no religious barrier; there is no need of marriage! Boy friend Girl friend relation is at will. Thus a girl can have many boy friends simultaneously & so a boy can have many girl friends at a time but if any one of them gets married then   the governments have formulated laws to protect rights of spouses. If they marry it is fine but in case of divorce spouses have to add together all the finances within their means & then divide into to equal shares – one for each. This is very dangerous because if one spouse is multi millioner .& other is weaker in finances the weaker party is in financial gains and stronger party is looser. This leads to refrain from legal way. So in the secular society there are more mistresses for a male; in the disguise of private secretary, personal secretary, personal assistant, operator, and etc & many more.

In secular system woman is given complete freedom! She can be a fashion model a sex worker, a promoter of   pornography, and etc. If you ask a secular woman about peace of mind and/or satisfaction she will cry! Whether she likes or not she has to serve greedy & lustful male and has to show her body beauty to earn bread. They consume more and more alcohol or similar drugs to console mind – It is Hell for them. 'Youth is crazy' by about 30 years of age a woman in the secular society commences to realize her disgrace – that is why more and more secular women revert to Islam.

Volumes have been written on this subject and still volumes could be written but the above narration is for waking up the Muslims. Only about parents and Spouses is written. Where as  Islam is a complete code of life and  covers Finances, Society, Faith, Dogma, Justice, Behavior, Jurisprudence, rituals, governess & etc.

The name of our country is "ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF PAKISTAN" let the Islamic Shreah be enforced to bring Peace, Harmony, and Tranquility and to bring back the Glory of Muslim Heritage and Culture.

Secular state

A secular state is a concept of secularism, whereby a state or country purports to be officially neutral in matters of religion, supporting neither religion nor irreligion.[1] A secular state also claims to treat all its citizens equally regardless of religion, and claims to avoid preferential treatment for a citizen from a particular religion/nonreligion over other religions/nonreligion. Secular states do not have a state religion or equivalent, although the absence of a state religion does not guarantee that a state is secular.

Establishment and practice

Secular states become secular either upon establishment of the state (e.g. United States of America or India) or upon secularization of the state (e.g. France or Nepal). Movements for laïcité in France and for the separation of church and state in the United States defined modern concepts of secularism. Historically, the process of secularizing states typically involves granting religious freedom, disestablishing state religions, stopping public funds to be used for a religion, freeing the legal system from religious control, freeing up the education system, tolerating citizens who change religion or abstain from religion, and allowing political leadership to come to power regardless of religious beliefs.[2]

Not all legally secular states are completely secular in practice.

  • In France for example, many Christian holy days are official holidays for the public administration, and teachers in Catholic schools are salaried by the state.[3] In some European states where secularism confronts monoculturalist philanthropy some of the main Christian sects and sects of other religions depend on the state for some of the financial resources for their religious charities.[4] It is common in Corporate law and Charity law to prohibit them from using those funds to organize religious worship in a separate place of worship or for conversion; the religious body itself must provide the religious content, educated clergy and lay-persons to exercise its own functions and may choose to afford part of their time to the separate charities. To that effect some of those charities establish secular organizations that manage part of or all of the donations from the main religion(s). Religious and atheist organizations can apply for equivalent funding from the government and receive subsidies either based on assessed social results where there is indirect religious state funding, sometimes that assessment is simply the number of beneficiaries of those organisations.[5] This resembles Charitable choice in the United States. Overt direct state funding of religions is on the whole doubtfully in accordance with the European Convention on Human Rights though it would not yet appear to have been decided at supranational level in ECtHR case law stemming from the rights in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights which mandates non-discrimination in affording its co-listed basic social rights; specifically, funding certain services would not accord with non-discriminatory state action.[6]

·         Many states that nowadays are secular in practice may have legal vestiges of an earlier established religion. Secularism also has various guises which may coincide with some degree of official religiosity. Thus, in the Commonwealth Realms, the head of state is required to take the 1688-enacted Coronation Oath[9] swearing to defend the Anglican faith. The United Kingdom also maintains positions in its advisory revising chamber for 26 senior clergymen of the established Church of England known as the Lords Spiritual, spiritual peers or Bishops in the House of Lords.[10] While Scotland is part of the United Kingdom, its Christianity has, since the Reformation, been too divided to have an established church, and has no religious parliamentary representation.

·         The reverse progression can also occur, a state can go from being secular to a religious state as in the case of Iran where the secularized state of the Pahlavi dynasts was replaced by the Islamic Republic (list below). Over the last 250 years, there has been a trend towards secularism.[11][12][13]

Former secular states

  • http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/66/Flag_of_Malaysia.svg/22px-Flag_of_Malaysia.svg.png Malaysia - In Article 3 of the Constitution of Malaysia, Islam is stated as the official religion of the country: "Islam is the religion of the Federation; but other religions may be practised in peace and harmony in any part of the Federation." In 1956, the Alliance party submitted a memorandum to the Reid Commission, which was responsible for drafting the Malayan constitution. The memorandum quoted: "The religion of Malaya shall be Islam. The observance of this principle shall not impose any disability on non-Muslim nationals professing and practising their own religion and shall not imply that the state is not a secular state."[87] The full text of the Memorandum was inserted into paragraph 169 of the Commission Report.[88] This suggestion was later carried forward in the Federation of Malaya Constitutional Proposals 1957 (White Paper), specifically quoting in paragraph 57: "There has been included in the proposed Federal Constitution a declaration that Islam is the religion of the Federation. This will in no way affect the present position of the Federation as a secular State...."[89] The Cobbold Commission also made another similar quote in 1962: "....we are agreed that Islam should be the national religion for the Federation. We are satisfied that the proposal in no way jeopardises freedom of religion in the Federation, which in effect would be secular."[90] In December 1987, the Lord President of the Supreme Court, Salleh Abas described Malaysia as a country governed by "secular law" in a court ruling.[91] In the early 1980s, the Malaysian government led by Mahathir Mohammad implemented an official programme of Islamization,[92] which was manifested in the form of introducing Islamic values and principles into the bureaucracy,[93] substantial financial support to the development of Islamic religious education, places of worship and the development of Islamic banking. The Malaysian government also made efforts to expand the powers of Islamic-based state statutory bodies such as the Tabung Haji, JAKIM (Department of Islamic development Malaysia) and National Fatwa Council. There has been much debate in public and political circles on Malaysia's status as a secular or Islamic state in recent years.[94]

·         ·  ·  http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/a/ae/Flag_of_the_United_Kingdom.svg/22px-Flag_of_the_United_Kingdom.svg.png United Kingdom - The Church of England is the established state religion of England, but there is no established church in Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales. Two Archbishops and 24 senior diocesan Bishops of the Church of England have seats in the House of Lords (the Lords Spiritual) and they can and do participate in debates and vote in divisions, which involve decisions affecting the entire United Kingdom. Parliament is opened with prayers, in the House of Lords usually led by one of the Lords Spiritual and in the Commons by the Speaker's chaplain.[103] The full term for the expression of the Crown's sovereignty via legislation is the Crown-in-Parliament-under-God. At the coronation, The King or Queen is anointed with consecrated oil by the Archbishop of Canterbury in a service at Westminster Abbey and must swear to maintain the Laws of God and the true profession of the Gospel, maintain in the United Kingdom the Protestant Reformed Religion established by law and to maintain and preserve inviolable the settlement of the Church of England, and the doctrine, worship, discipline, and government thereof, as by law established in England. Thus though the Church of Ireland is no longer established and the Church of England has been disestablished in Wales to the Church in Wales, the Crown is still bound to protect Protestantism in general in the whole of the United Kingdom by the Coronation Oath and the Bill of Rights, and to protect the Church of Scotland by the Act of Union.[104] All Members of Parliament must declare their allegiance to the Queen in order to take their seat, although it is for the individual MP to decide whether to do so by swearing a religious oath or making a solemn affirmation.
