Editors of different newspapers of the country have launched a new platform, 'Editors' Council', to play an active role in protecting the full freedom of newspapers and right to freedom of expression, professional advancement of journalism and strengthening the editorial institution.
Daily Deccan Age editor S.Y.Din was unanimously made president of the Council at a meeting held in Hyderabad on Sunday at the Press Club with Pledge editor Abdul Khader in the chair, said a press release on Monday.
The release said Daily Rahnuma-e-Daccan editor Syed Viqarruddin was made general secretary of the Council while daily Apna Bharat Editor Khalid treasurer.
The other 15 members of the committee.
