~:C.C.4.U:~ Secure Email Account Of Yahoo By Enabling Two-Step Authentication

We discussed previously how and why many web services have started the implementation of Two-Factor authentication and how this type of security is protecting your online account by adding layers of security protection. Yahoo is one of the giants on the Internet who still have millions of users, daily checking their emails and need a high level of security on their email accounts.

In this article we will see how you can Enable Two-Step Authentication Security on your Yahoo email account. This service was announced by Yahoo back in 2011 November - December, But till now, Yahoo Two-Step Authentication is in beta and is not available to all the users worldwide. (That's really sad).

Please keep sending me your replies / feedback after reading the article and keep asking me the questions about the things which you want to learn about. WHAT I NEED IS JUST A REPLY OR A FEEDBACK FROM YOU GUYS.

You can like my Facebook page or follow me on Twitter  or Google+   Community where you can ask me questions and you will also get the notifications of all the new articles which I post on my blog.

Once the feature is turned on, any suspicious account sign-in attempt will be challenged by a second sign-in verification beyond the initial password validation. To confirm the legitimacy of the sign-in attempt, you or the hijacker will have to answer your account security question or enter a verification code that will be sent to your mobile phone. Presumably, only you, as the legitimate user, can sign in. Account hijackers will be blocked since they neither know your security answer nor possess your mobile phone. In short, this second sign-in verification step acts as an additional, stronger "beyond-the-password" challenge against any unauthorized access attempt.

Yahoo Security Weakness

The problem with Yahoo's Two-Step Authentication security is that it only ask you to enter the 2nd verification code if you try to Log in to your Yahoo account from any other PC. Means, If you sign in to your Yahoo account with an unrecognized device or computer (other than the computer which you use on regular bases to check your Yahoo account), than you will have to answer a security question or enter a verification code that Yahoo will send to your mobile phone or non-Yahoo! alternate email address on file.

This means, if a hacker uses the same PC to hack your Yahoo account which you use on regular bases, than Yahoo will not ask him to enter second verification code. This is not what we want, but unfortunately this is what Yahoo is offering, at least now.
