Assalaam o alaikum: Brothers and sisters in Islam: Please let me know if we are debating or we are really in search of correct knowledge. It would be very appropriate to look at the history of Taraveeh within the time span of the presence of Rasulullah pbuh. The story is very, very simple to which we are painting with our will and we will be answerable to Allah s.w.t. The history of Taraveeh congregation lead by Rasulullah pbuh is of some of last four days only of His last Ramdhan. Yesterday I quoted from Bukhari and Muslim and today I repeat: Praying at Night in Ramadaan (Taraweeh) Bukhari :: Book 3 :: Volume 32 :: Hadith 229 Narrated 'Urwa: That he was informed by 'Aisha, "Allah's Apostle went out in the middle of the night and prayed in the mosque and some men prayed behind him. In the morning, the people spoke about it and then a large number of them gathered and prayed behind him (on the second night). In the next morning the people again talked about it and on the third night the mosque was full with a large number of people. Allah's Apostle came out and the people prayed behind him. On the fourth night the Mosque was overwhelmed with people and could not accommodate them, but the Prophet came out (only) for the morning prayer. When the morning prayer was finished he recited Tashah-hud and (addressing the people) said, "Amma ba'du, your presence was not hidden from me but I was afraid lest the night prayer (Qiyam) should be enjoined on you and you might not be able to carry it on." So, Allah's Apostle died and the situation remained like that (i.e. people prayed individually). " The above Hadith is simple to understand and needs no painting. The following narration by a sulfii brother/sister goes to the credit of Hanafi scholar who quoted it. & given hereunder: Praying at Night in Ramadaan (Taraweeh) Bukhari :: Book 3 :: Volume 32 :: Hadith 230 Narrated Abu Salama bin 'Abdur Rahman: that he asked 'Aisha "How was the prayer of Allah's Apostle in Ramadan?" She replied, "He did not pray more than eleven Rakat in Ramadan or in any other month. He used to pray four Rakat ---- let alone their beauty and length----and then he would pray four ----let alone their beauty and length ----and then he would pray three Rakat (Witr)." She added, "I asked, 'O Allah's Apostle! Do you sleep before praying the Witr?' He replied, 'O 'Aisha! My eyes sleep but my heart does not sleep." He quotes the above hadeeth of Sahi Al Bukhari in which Aisha Radhi Allahu Anha says that the prophet sal Allahu aleyhi wasallam did not pray more than eleven Rakat in Ramadan or in any other month. After quoting this hadeeth he makes some claims to disprove that this hadeeth of Aisha radhi Allahu Anha is about Tahajjud and not Taraweeh. His claims are as follows. So, Allah's Apostle died and the situation remained like that (i.e. people prayed individually). " The above Hadith is simple to understand and needs no painting. The following narration by a sulfii brother/sister goes to the credit of Hanafi scholar who quoted it. & given hereunder: 1) Tahajjud was ordained in begining of Islam and taraweeh was prayed in the last ramadan of the prophet's life Sal Allahu aleyhi wasallam. 2) Tarawih is prayed in the begining of the night and tahajjud is prayed in the later part of the night. 3) Tarawih is prayed in congregation and tahajjud is prayed individually. 4) Tarawih was prayed in the Masjid by the prophet mohammad sal Allahu aleyhi wasallam and he prayed tahajjud at home. 5) tarawih is prayed only in ramadan and tahajjud is prayed through out the year. 6) No body does Amal on the hadeeth of Ayesha radhi Allahu Anha As it is bcz the prophet pbuh used to pray 4 and 4 rakaat but tarawih is prayed in 2 and 2 rakaat all over the world. 7) Sahaba made Ijma on 20 Rakaat. 8) The hadeeth of Ali Radhi Allahu Anhu in Musannif ibn Abee Shayba. Lets start responding to his claims now. Claim no.1:- Tahajjud was ordained in begining of Islam and taraweeh was prayed in the last ramadan? Brother: You do not refute the above claim if you do then refer above mentioned hadith # 229 He made the above mentioned claim in Response to the hadeeth of Aisha Radhi Allahu Anha in Sahi Al Bukhari. This Claim has no proof what so ever. There is not a single Sahi Hadeeth which differentiates between tarawih and Tahajjud and there is not a Single Sahi hadeeth which shows that the Prophet Sal Allahu Aleyhi wasallam prayed Tahajjud and Tarawih Seperately. The hanafi scholar in the video gives proof of tahajjud being “ordained†but he forgot to give proofs of tarawih being “ordained†Brother the need of separating Tahajjud, Taraweeh and Salat-ul Lail did not arise at that time And if you are expert then tell me how many raka'ts were offered on the first day of Taraweeh by Messenger pbuh and how many on next day and how many on next day? & if it was Tahajjud then why Nabi kareem pbuh did not offer on fifth day???. & who gathered people in Ramadan into congregation? Answer is Hazrat Umar R.A. & Why Hazrat Umar R.A. said it a bida-e-Hasana.? What is Bida? Is Tahajjud a Bida? This hadeeth of Aisha Radhi Allahu Anha in Sahi Al Bukhari is one of the Strongest proofs that Tahajjud and Taraweeh are the same prayers. Tahajjud, Tarawih and Qiyaam ul Layl are 3 names of the Same Salaah. Regarding how many Raka'ts in taraweeh? It is Ijmah of Ummat that it is to be 20 Raka'ts – That is why inspite of all their pressure they can not change the system given by Hazrat Umar Farooq r.a. & Rank of Umar Farooq in Islam is: Companions of the Prophet Bukhari :: Book 5 :: Volume 57 :: Hadith 38 Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Among the nations before you there used to be people who were inspired (though they were not prophets). And if there is any of such a persons amongst my followers, it is 'Umar." Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Among the nation of Bani Israel who lived before you, there were men who used to be inspired with guidance though they were not prophets, and if there is any of such persons amongst my followers, it is 'Umar." It is Ijma and is applicable for Masajid where Taraweeh congrigations are held – 20 Rakats but not compulsory , you may offer 4 or 8 or 12 or 16 or 20 This is my personel opinion that Qur'an Shreef contains 600 Rukus and per day 20 rakat with each raka't one ruku in 30 days will be 600 Rukus and thus full qur'an will be recited in consecutive order. |
