A 114-year-old Japanese woman has been named
as the world's oldest female.

Misao Okawa was presented with the certificate after the previous
record holder passed away in January aged 115.

Okawa was born on March 5, 1898 and has three children, four grandchildren and
six great-grandchildren. Two of her children are still alive and are in their 90s,
reports AFP.

Upon receiving the honour, she said: "I'm happy. I'm feeling good anyway."
The record holder, who will turn 115 next week, broke her leg when she was
102 years old but has otherwise had no major health problems.
