Assalamalaikum Dear Freinds, Many people still find excuses to legitimise the dowry & the wedding day dinner given by the bride's father. This is the root of all evils, and unless we will not boycott such marriages, no change can ever come. Attending such marriages is the main source of encouragement to this curse. In fact, it is biggest hypocracy. On one hand we condomn the dowry and extravagance, which are Haraam but, on the other hand, we do not hesitate to attend such parties. The relations become more important to us than the Shariya. Let us listen how the dowry is Haraam and why the wedding day dinner is against the ultimate purpose of shariya. Those who have objection, may present their objections in writing too on this occasion. Since Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, Indo-Pak's renowned scholar and the recognised authority on Fiq'h, is in Jeddah, it will be a great opportunity to avail the occasion to listen to him on this topic.
