A Message to IslamicTubers from Human Appeal International Dear IslamicTuber, The number of people that are now severely affected in the drought-stricken areas of Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti and Uganda has increased from 10 million to over 14 million! Our emergency team on the ground are reporting back some of the most harrowing and appalling stories we've heard. Babies are being left to die in the desert while their families flee the drought. Families are walking hundreds of kilometres braving the desert, tribal war and wild animals to get to the Dadaab refugee camp. Dadaab refugee camp is now home to over 400,000 refugees fleeing drought and war. The situation within the boundaries of Dadaab is not much better than outside of it. Ramshackle tents provide little shelter from the elements. Food and water is scarce. Many of the inhabitants of Dadaab, particularly children, are malnourished to the point of emaciation. The situation is definitely worsening. At Human Appeal International we are co-ordinating with our staff on the ground in Kenya to organise food and water packages for those most in need. We have coordinated further aid to be distributed in Dadaab and surrounding villages. However more needs to be done. The word from our emergency team is that more food and water is needed and more medical support. We need to raise funds to send the following items out there: |
