In a letter written to the Chief Minister of Andhra Padesh today the Editor Siasat, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan demanded the CM to grant 500 Cr package for Gulf returnees to settle them into small scale businesses and getting them employment in Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. Khan said, more than 8 lakh people from Andhra Pradesh are working in GCC Saudi Arabia. A large number of them are semi-skilled labours who are holding Aqama (Labour card) in one company and working in another company.
The Saudi Government has implemented "NITAQAT SCHEME" in which approximately 50,000 (fifty thousand) people from Andhra Pradesh will be thrown out off their jobs and return back to India. The impact of crack down and sudden exodus among illegal labours may trigger off economic and social crisis in Andhra Pradesh. Needless to mention approximately around 5-7 Billion Dollars (25,000-35,000 Crores) are annually remitted by these NRI from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and GCC countries to India. The NRI inflow will affect real estate, transport and other sectors of Andhra Pradesh, he said.
Mr. Zahid Ali Khan also drawn CM's attention to the initiatives taken by Kerala Government which by sending their Ministerial delegation to the Kingdom. He also praises the active role played by Mr. E.Ahamed, Minister of State for External Affairs in this regard.
Mr. Khan demanded the Government of Andhra Pradesh to take special measures like granting a 500 Crores (Five Hundred Crores) package for Gulf returnees to settle them into small scale businesses and getting them employment in Andhra Pradesh.
The Editor also demanded to form a Special Action Committee to look after this Nitaqat issue even though Saudi Government has given three months grace period recently.
Mr. Zahid Ali Khan asked the Government of Andhra Pradesh to act in this regard to build the confidence of NRI's and solving their impending Social, Economical and Psychological issues.
