~:C.C.4.U:~ Mornin~

  Mornin~

There's a photo being passed around the internet featuring
a small dog running, caught mid air in its stride. The words,
"Live like someone left the gate open!" are printed on it.

Whenever I see it I long for that ability, that freedom to run,
to go wherever I want. Pausing for a moment, I smile, dance
with my dreams and then move on. Perhaps it was seeing that
picture so many times that I began thinking about how we
are supposed to live our lives.

Maybe it is just the timing in my own life that made me
think about it all. It could be the result of the many conversations
I have had with God lately, too. I talk, He listens. Well, the
truth is I believe He talks to me through others.

So, it was yesterday when I happened to strike up a conversation with
a man at the grocery store. It all began with the weather. It was terribly
cold and windy and of course that was the main topic for most people
who braved the cold to go shopping.

At first I met him in the produce section. He was looking for
"fruit that makes me feel I'm in the tropics" he joked. Bananas,
oranges, and pineapple filled the small basket he held.

I was there for an apple or two I planned on using for dinner. As we
both went on about our business our paths would cross periodically
in the aisles. Timing being as it was, we ended up at the same
checkout and front door exit.

He struggled to hold his bag as he put his gloves on. I only had a few
small items so I offered to hold his purchases until he was situated.
Seeing all of the healthy "tropical" selections in his bag I asked,
"Are you originally from a warmer climate?"

He smiled and said, "No, but we traveled a lot. Stuff like this helps us
to stay healthy and keep the memories alive."

"So do you still travel?" I asked.

"Not any more. We have begun turning toward home," he said.

It must have been the expression on my face that made him offer
a better explanation. He reached out and placed his hand on my arm,
smiled and said, "That means we realize our time together is running out.
Our next trip will be to Heaven."

"How beautiful!" I whispered softly.

He waved goodbye and headed toward his car.

There it was. God's voice. His words, spoken just for me
and now I share them with you.

I believe that we've done it all wrong. The world drives its own
expectations down our throat. We believe we must compete for the
biggest and best of everything. We must punch the clock and live our
lives outside our family by sacrificing our time together for the sake of
having more of all things worldly.

I believe that God sets us free at birth and expects us to
"Live like someone left the gate open!"

Run, leap, dare to share your joy. Laugh, dream out loud and use
all of your senses to consume life not just live it.

Then in the end when you have exhausted all your dreams together,
take the final years to slowly journey back home.
