[Yaadein_Meri] Sahih Bukhari - Curing of Illness through the mediation of the Holy Prophet Muhammad Salalaahu Alaihi wasallam

Assalaam Alaikum

Curing of Illness through the mediation of the Holy Prophet Muhammad

Sahih Bukhari Book 35, Number 6501:

Anas reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) visited a person from amongst the Muslims in order to inquire (about his health) who had grown feeble like the chicken. Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: Did you supplicate for anything or beg of Him about that? He said: Yes. I used to utter (these words): Impose punishment upon me earlier in this world, what Thou art going to impose upon me in the Hereafter. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: Hallowed be Allah, you have neither the power nor forbearance to take upon yourself (the burden of His Punishment). Why did you not say this: O Allah, grant us good in the world and good in the Hereafter, and save us from the torment of Fire. He (the Holy Prophet) made this supplication (for him) and he was all right.

Sahih Bukhari Book 35, Number 6501:

A few points to note from this hadees

1. The Vision of the Holy Prophet Muhammad Salalaahu Alaihi wasallam

This Sahabi who had fallen ill and become feeble like a chicken had made this dua earlier .

Impose punishment upon me earlier in this world, what Thou art going to impose upon me in the Hereafter.

The Holy Prophet (may peace be upon him)  came to know that this person had done such and such Dua from Allah and he enquired about it , A question would occur in our minds , How on earth  did the Holy Prophet  (may peace be upon him)  know that this person had made this dua , then we come to know it is the power of the  Holy Prophet Muhammed's Prophetic vision given to him by Allah, The following sentence from the Hadees shows that the Holy Prophet (may peace be upon him) knew about his dua

Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: Did you supplicate for anything or beg of Him about that?

This sahabi said yes he had done so and so dua .

2. Wasila of the Holy Prophet Salalaahu Alaihi wassalam

The Holy Prophet (may peace be upon him)  thought him another dua and asked him not to repeat the earlier dua , but then instead of asking the sahabi to do the new dua by himself  , he intermediated and asked Allah for his forgiveness , and Allah forgived the Sahabi and the Sahabi  recovered , the following sentence from the hadees shows his intervention

He (the Holy Prophet) made this supplication (for him) and he was all right.

It is good practise to always make a supplication to Allah using the wasila of the Holy Prophet Muhammed Salalaahu Alaihi wasallam
