Thanks for the pictorial of the sacred Ghar. I take this opportunity to share with you and the Blog members my article on Ghar-e-Hira. Being a geologist, I have dealt with not only the religious but technical aspects as well, of one of the most sacred and revered places of Islam. It has a unique distinction of being a place from where our unique Deen spread to four corners of the world. The article was published in Dawn and also in an Urdu magazine.

This Cave of Hira, the sanctum of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the place of His devotions and meditations and the sacred spot where the Holy Quran began to be revealed.
